Cores

Criteria for Determining Core Credit

Core credit is issued in accordance with the criteria detailed below. Upon completion of our  inspection and application of core credits, a copy of the documentation will be returned to you.  All discrepancies will be fully documented, and when applicable, digital pictures of damage such  as broken cases or totes may be provided. 


Full reimbursement for your core is subject to the following:


 1. It is in your best interest to return the cores fully assembled. Disassembled returned  cores qualify only for partial core credit. There will be a 20% charge for all transmissions that are received in a disassembled state. There may be an additional  charge for missing parts. 


2. Core credit will be given based on a visual inspection of the case:   Any broken and /or welded cases and/or housings are subject to a 65% core  charge (only 35% credit received).   Front wheel drives with blown differentials (evidenced by a crack or hole in  case) will be subject to an 80% core charge (only 20% credit received).  Water or flood-damaged cases will be subject to a 50% core charge (only 50%  credit received). 


3. The returned core must be the identical part number as the purchased unit. A non-identical returned core is subject to a 100% charge (0% refund). However, we may buy  the non-identical returned core for fair market value. 


4. The torque converter must be returned with the transmission core and must be the  identical part number as the purchased unit. A missing torque converter is subject to a  charge of 10%.


5. All protective shipping brackets furnished on the new unit must be returned with the  core. There will be a $15 charge for missing brackets. 


6. If a unit is shipped in a tote, the core must be returned in the same identical tote that the  original unit was shipped in. If the identical tote is not returned with the core, the charge is typically $100. In the case that a factory transmission is purchased, 100% of the core could be charged if the unit is not returned in the original tote. If the straps inside of the tote are damaged or missing there is a $10 charge. 


7. If you or your customer is unsure of the condition and/or value of any core, you should  delay giving core credit until we’ve inspected it.
